Lidocaine Numbing

Lidocaine numbing treatment is designed to eliminate pain when lips are filled. A smaller gauge needle than the one used to fill is used to administer 4 small injections into the gums. This will provide complete numbing so no pain is felt during dermal lip fillers.

Sometimes referred to as ‘Dental Block’ – lidocaine numbing is anaesthetic injected into the gums and the block takes effect almost immediately. Numbing cream is a topical anaesthetic and can take up to 20 minutes to come into full effect.

The lips are very sensitive and there are a lot of nerves going to them which can make getting lip fillers uncomfortable and painful for the client. Compared to using a numbing cream, lidocaine numbing provides more block and results in a pain-free treatment whereas numbing cream usually only takes the edge off. Everyone’s pain threshold differs and some may not like getting injections at all, so the best method of numbing used is something you’ll decide based on what you’re most comfortable with.
